RIDE THE DRAGON // Vernissage

STUDIO 52C is proud to present the exhibition: RIDE THE DRAGON. There’s no doubt that there is a particularly crumbling quality to existence at the moment. So, to make sense of this confusing clusterfuck, we bring forth a wish to ride the dragon to the past or the future. We need stories, whether tales of horror, humour, and/or hope to understand where we come from and where we are headed. This multi-media exhibition is all about entering the ether of yesterdays (folk)lore and the utopian nightmares of tomorrow. Thus, we present six artists exploring storytelling as an ode to the tentacles between fantasy and reality. Reimagine ancient myths in a contemporary context with the intersection of Narcissus and the gym bro and snakes in (extra)terrestrial paradise. Fossiled sandcastles and woven fighterjets in light of a disappearing present. Or, travel to year 2826 to envision what on earth has happened; ethereal manga swamp-popculture, ants on a pear, and luminescent technobotanik galore exploring the intergalactic, dystopian, yet stubbornly optimistic mutations of tomorrow. Giddy up pals, there’s mischief to spread.
