Oyster Workshop - La Banchina 10 Year Anniversary

For day 8 of 10 days of La Banchina, we’re hosting an oyster workshop with our head chef Julian Mathiesen. We'll be learning about, opening and eating invasive Danish oysters. These oysters have spread rapidly in our local waters, disrupting marine ecosystems and outcompeting native species. Eating them is, in a very real way, part of the solution.
During the workshop, we’ll talk about where they come from, why we should eat, and how to work with them. From handling and opening to simple ways of preparing and serving them - and of course eating them!
It’s a small, informal session for anyone curious to learn more, whether you’ve never opened an oyster before or just want a deeper understanding of what’s in our waters. A ticket includes 5 oysters and a glass of bubbles.
